November 14 - Clean Air Day

Clean Air Day, celebrated on November 14, is a great opportunity to draw attention to the problem of air pollution and its impact on our health. It reminds us of the need to act to improve quality and emphasizes the role that each of us can play in the fight against smog.

The heating season entails a deterioration in air quality in many regions of Poland.

Smog is a combination of atmospheric pollutants, which are influenced by industrial activities, transport and heating houses with solid fuels.

Inhaling polluted air can contribute to many respiratory and circulatory diseases.

In Poland, where the problem of smog is particularly visible in winter, there is an increase in the number of hospitalizations related to respiratory problems. In addition, the elderly, children and people with chronic diseases are most exposed to the negative effects of air pollution. The increase in incidence of allergies and respiratory infections in children is also the result of the deteriorating air quality.

How can home heating contribute to the formation of smog?

In winter, home heating plays a key role. Combustion of low-quality coal causes the emission of harmful dust and gases. Worse, although incineration of waste is prohibited, it is still a serious problem, increasing the risk of smog formation and its negative impact on health and the environment.

The survey published in 2024 of the Polish Economic Institute published in 2024 shows that half a million Polish households continue to burn waste. Moreover, 46% of respondents lived in a house that was not properly insulated and as much as 25% admitted using poor quality fuel.

So how to improve air quality?

The main factor we have influencing is the source of heating that we use in the household. So each of us can contribute to better air quality and our life. If you decide to replace your old stove with a modern or heat pump, you will surely breathe a sigh of relief.

An important aspect is also the thermal modernization of the building. A well-insulated house means lower fuel consumption, and thus - a lower emission of harmful substances.

In addition, by installing your own power source on your farm, you join a wide range of prosumers, the number of which has exceeded 1 million 300 thousand!

As a future prosumer, you can use subsidy programs such as:

- Clean Air Program

- "My Current" program

Clean Air Day It reminds us that taking care of the environment is our common duty, and clean air is the basis of a healthy and sustainable life for us and future generations.
